A candidate for the New York County Legislature has been missing for almost a week, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Petros Krommidas, 29, a Democrat who is running for the 4th district of the Nassau County Legislature, was last seen on April 23 in Baldwin, New York, police said.
Police said that Krommids was last seen with a gray -crayfish patterned sweatshirt and gray tracksuit pants and it is believed to be in the Long Beach area, New York.
“Please, keep looking. We need to find it,” said Krommidas’s sister, Eleni-Lemon Krommidas, in a statement Tuesday.
According to his family, Krommids parked his car next to the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach, closed his vehicle, grabbed his towel and walked to the beach to exercise, “as he had done many times before,” around 10:30 pm on April 23.
Krommids was “always in great form, and has many future plans”, including participation in a triathlon, his family said in a statement Mondays. He also “wasn’t oblivious to cold water training,” his family said.

He was reported as missing on April 24, and the family said he is “completely out of place” so that Krommids does not respond to the messages.
On April 24, the police found the towel, clothes and krommidas phone on the beach, authorities confirmed to ABC News. Since then, search efforts have continued, but the family is also encouraging the public to help walking on the beaches, specifically areas between Long Beach, Lido Beach and Jacob Riis Park, during the high tide.
“Every pair of eyes helps. Every step along the beach is important. Thank you for being part of bringing Petey home,” said the family.
Only two days before his disappearance, Krommids spoke at a meeting For the young Nassau County Democrats.
Police said that any person with information about the whereabouts of Krommids must communicate with the team of missing persons at 516-573-7347.
