In a separate interview in “This week”, Van Hollen, D-Md., Responded to Homan’s criticism, saying that for a long time he has supported the violence of the gangs.

Abrego García, a Salvadoran native who lived in Maryland, was deported to the notorious Mega Prisbin of El Salvador in March. Abrego García received a judicial order for protection in 2019 that prohibits him from being deported to El Salvador due to fear for his security. Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador last week and met with Abrego García, whose wife is a American and constituent citizen of Van Hollen, on Thursday after initially access to him was denied.
Van Hollen emphasized that for him, this case is about protecting constitutional rights, telling Karl: “I am not defending man. I am defending this man’s rights to due process.”
But Homan defended the actions of the administration so far, arguing that under the law of alien enemies of 1798, which the administration invoked to deport hundreds of Venezuelan migrants, including Abrego García, the rights of due process are more limited.
“I support the fact that I think we did the right thing here.
