Fan in critical condition after the fall of the stands in the PNC Park of Pittsburgh

A fan was hospitalized on Wednesday night after falling from the stands of the right garden to the field during the seventh entry of the Pirates-Cubs baseball game in PNC Park.

The man, who fell approximately 20 feet, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to a statement from the Pittsburgh Public Security Department.

The detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit of the Pittsburgh Police are investigating, the department said.

According to a Pittsburgh Pirates statement, the man was immediately treated by Pittsburgh EMS, as well as team coaches and PNC Park staff. He was then transported to the Allegheny General Hospital.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” the team said in a statement.

The incident briefly stopped the game when emergency teams responded.
